National Guides for Good Hygiene Practice for the fisheries and aquaculture sector

To sensitize operators of fisheries and aquaculture sector in terms of health laws and quality care, we provide “Guides for Good Hygiene Practice”.  In this context and according to the Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries published on November 2, 2006, professionals in the fisheries sector must comply with the National Guides for Good Hygiene Practices (GNBPH) to preserve the quality and safety of fisheries products. In 2007, a first set of guides with 8 volumes was made available to the operators by the Interprofessional Group of Fisheries Products (GIPP) in collaboration with professional organization (UTICA and UTAP). In 2019, after numerous meetings with the various stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture sector, these guides were updated and redistributed as follows:

  • Fisheries units
  • wholesale market
  • Transportation of fisheries products
  • Storage of fisheries products
  • Fresh, frozen and live fisheries products
  • Canned and half-canned fisheries products
  • Processed products
  • Bivalve mollusk
  • Aquaculture

These 9 guides were updated by taking in consideration new laws issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry, the ISO 22000 standards which aims to tightly control food safety risks through the Hazard Analysis System and Control Critical Points (HACCP).
